Let’s dive into today’s money conversation with Erin Lowry. Erin is a millennial money expert and author of the book, “Broke Millennial: Stop Scraping by And Get Your Financial Life Together.” She’s the creator of brokemillennial.com. The thing I like about Erin is her writing style- she’s sarcastic, witty and writes like she speaks.

In this episode we talk about writing the book and what people can expect from that, growing up in a household with constantly discussed personal finance, knowing your cash flow, the importance of multiple streams of income and how this looks in her life, the true value of a worthless degree, and getting financially naked with your SO.

And because Erin’s book is launching officially in May, anyone who pre-orders the book and sends an email to info@brokemillennial.com will get a special bonus chapter! Let’s all rally together and help Erin hit the bestseller list!

Alright guys, I’m honored to introduce you to Erin Lowry from BrokeMillennial.com

Today’s guest has been inspiring me since 2015.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to chat with Philip Taylor (or as you might know him as PT Money). PT is a certified public accountant, creator of FinCon, one of the top conferences personal finance bloggers, podcasters, and creatives, he’s the host of Masters of Money podcast, and blogger at PTMoney.com. PT is a really big deal in the financial world, so it was tons of fun chatting with him about his journey in life.

In this episode we talk about starting his blog in 2007, his strategy for starting FinCon in 2011 and how he used crowd-sourcing to grow the conference from 250 people to over 1,500 people (which is no small feat), sacrifices he made to pay off student loans and debt, the hilarious story of how he bought a car, realized it was too expensive and tried to take the car back, and towards the end he shares a very inspiring perspective on taking ownership of your life.

All this and so much more. Guys and gals, I’m stoked to introduce you to Philip Taylor, from PTMoney.com

Today’s guest is probably my favorite. I seriously thought for sure I was going to fan-girl out so hard during this interview.  Today’s interview is with Scott Keyes, the creator of ScottsCheapFlights.com. Scott’s Cheap Flights is seriously one of the best things I’ve discovered recently and one of the only products I recommend for everyone that likes to travel.

In this episode we talk about his start as a political journalist and the $130 round-trip flight to Milan, Italy that changed his life, the start of his business and how he began monetizing by telling people about cheap flight deals, credit card hacking, the time he asked for $2 a month to help pay for server costs and the fear he had behind that, his freemium business model and how he uses that to build trust, then we even talk about his personal philosophy for travel.

I have heard some amazing stories, but this one might be one of the coolest.

Tracie Fobes was able to create her dream life directly from her experience paying off debt.

Tracie is the founder Penny Pinchin’ Mom and TracieFobes.com. Her journey to paying off debt started when she was inspired by her friend, who was using the envelop system, paid for dinner with cash. Tracie went home, talked with her husband and did a ton of research. After that they were able to pay off $37,000 in just 27 months- with three kids and Tracie staying at home with the little ones. From her experiences, she was able save money through couponing, finding deals and making a little extra cash off her blog- pennypinchinmom.com. She now teaches bloggers how to get results faster than doing it on their own and provides them with a go-to resource to find all the information they need to build a successful blog.

In this episode we talk about her strategies to paying off debt, what we need to know about using the envelop system, taking her kids on their dream Disney World vacation, how she was able to turn her blog into a six figure business, her first affiliate check of $65 and how that changed her life, treating your blog like a business, and even her suggestions for anyone working on being financially savvy.

Imagine going through a breakup AND being left with $9,000 of debt.

I’m pretty sure I’d be ugly crying for at least a couple months, but today’s guest came out of the fire stronger than ever.

Sarah Li Cain is the founder of HighFivingDollars.com, where she writes about all things personal finance and specifically focuses on the psychology behind our spending habits. Sarah is the author of The Authentic Budget, which is coming out soon, and she even has a Money Coloring Book, pretty sweet right?

In this episode we talk about the time her ex-boyfriend left her with a broken heart and $9,000 in debt, why she was grateful for her debt and what it taught her, boundaries and how they play such a big factor in our financial lives (and how setting them even led her to meeting her husband), getting rid of the PEZ collection she had since she was 13 years old, why budgets don’t work and so much more.

Towards the end of the episode we talk about a challenge that hasn’t launched quite yet but check Sarah’s website later as I’m sure this is one she will be pursuing after her book launch.
