For more than 15 years, Heather Fier led the growth of Natural Selection Promotions, a natural food event marketing company, to a national scale. She oversaw the planning of more than 100,000 successful in-store special events for clients and store chains.

Her knack for planning events was noticed by friends and family and a flourishing side business developed as a wedding planner. In 2018, Heather stepped back from her leadership role at NSP to follow her passion, helping couples plan weddings without jeopardizing their financial stability.

Heather’s first book, The Wedding Hacker: A Budget-Minded Planning Playbook, was released in early 2019. She has been busy launching the Wedding Hacker Planning Club which aims to provide affordable wedding planning guidance and support to couples who thought that a wedding planner was out of reach.

When she isn’t working on her business, Heather enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and giving back to her community.

In this episode we talk about how wedding-cost data is inflated by the wedding industry to increase spending expectations, how Heather helps educate couples on how to save money, what the wedding tax means, timeline preparation for weddings, factors to consider when planning for food/drinks, decoration savings tips, saving money on photographers without sacrificing quality, and unique ideas to helping your wedding showcase you and your partner in the best light.
